About The Speaker

Darlene Graham says witnessing birth, death and “everything in between”  helps her put greater emotional truth into her novels.  A Labor and Delivery and an Oncology nurse for twenty years, she decided to translate all that real-life drama into romantic fiction.

As a nurse-educator she learned how to take difficult, arcane material and make it user-friendly.

She went on to teach writing at the University of Oklahoma School of Journalism where she completed a Masters Degree in Professional Writing.  Getting college students excited about writing skills, she says, was a snap compared teaching exhausted nurses on the night shift.

Darlene says that since her first fiction sale her writing career has felt like popcorn popping, and her biggest thrill is to helping other writers to achieve that same wonderful feeling.  To this end, she has conducted writing workshops for RWA chapters all over the United States, and has been a featured speaker at the O.U. Short Course on Professional Writing, the Dallas Area Romance Writers’ annual conference in Dallas, Texas, and Romance Writers of America conferences in Washington D.C. and New York City.  Darlene shows writers how to hone their writing and increase their chances of selling with POWER WRITING.
